Can an arcade racer feel good on a touchscreen?
Racing on a phone sounds like a compromise from the start. No wheel, no pedals, just glass. But the arcade racers that get the controls right prove it can work beautifully.
The big debate is tilt versus tap. Tilt feels immersive but gets twitchy, especially on larger phones where small wrist movements over-steer. Tap controls look basic but give you precise, repeatable input — which matters a lot in a drift-focused game like Neon Drift Rush.
My rule of thumb: if a racer forces tilt-only, I'm wary. The best ones offer both and let you remap sensitivity. I spent an hour tuning Neon Drift Rush before every race started feeling natural.
Short races help too. Arcade racers live and die on the pick-up-and-play feel, and nothing kills that faster than a ten-minute lap you can't pause.
